ABOUT US

Meet the Instructors

WELL-ROUNDED HORSEMANSHIP

While our focus is in western riding, we also have experience with english - and we utilize both disciplines as well as bareback riding  to teach students to be confident and well-rounded in their horsemanship.

HARD WORK & DEDICATION

We do not shy away from the realities of horsemanship - horses are hard work, and learning to be a true equestrian means not being afraid to fall down, get back up, and try again. Riders who show dedication and grit are those who excel in our program.

PERSONALIZED APPROACH

We do not teach on a timetable - each lesson is tailored to the student's skill level and goals for their own horsemanship. We're never afraid to slow down and go back to basics to build a good foundation.

Head Instructor

Julie Jones

Julie first became interested horses at 6 years old when her neighbor got an unbroken mare. That encouraged a love of training horses (and riders) from the ground up.

She earned the Adult Division buckle for the Madison OHC Gymkhana Series in 2023 with her mare, Buckshot. She has now passed Buckshot down to her daughter, Eternity, and is excited to be starting and bringing up her new barrel horse - Jinx.

Julie's focus for her riders is general horsemanship. While she primarily rides Western speed events, she also provides instruction for various disciplines and promotes well-rounded riders and horses. Her favorite part is seeing riders succeed and the smiles on their faces when they do.

Saddle Tots Instructor

Kelsey Niswonger

Growing up in 4-H, horses have always been a part of Kelsey’s life passed down from her mom and grandmother. After spending some time away from horses to focus on her family life, Kelsey is back in the saddle and sharing her love of horses to her own children.

Kelsey and her horse Angus will be competing for the second year in the local gymkhana series. They plan to stay busy this summer riding trails, swimming and over night camping.

Kelsey is ready to spread her love for horses by offering the opportunity for other young enthusiasts to interact with horses, learning basic horsemanship and safety. Her Saddle Tots program for 3 to 8 year olds is held on Monday and Friday evenings.

Assistant Instructor

Chelsea Moser

One of Chelsea's earliest memories is walking out on Christmas morning to see her dad holding a pinto Shetland pony. Even at just 3 years old she was already head-over-heels in love with horses. By the time she was a teenager, she was starting horses under saddle with help from her grandpa.

She and her mare, Kitty, earned 3rd in the Adult division for the Madison OHC Gymkhana series in 2023 and 4th at the B&B Gymkhana Series.

Her favorite part of the lesson program is helping students create confidence in the saddle and teaching a proper foundation for their horsemanship skills.

Working Student

Eternity Jones

Eternity has loved horses her whole life, and her dedication to them shows. She is an accomplished equestrian with buckles in PeeWee, Youth, and Junior divisions at several local gymkhana events.

Her first horse, Champ, is now 38 and being spoiled in retirement. She also has Napoleon (20) who earned her the Madison OHC Junior division buckle in 2022, Dvo (11) who won the buckle in 2023, and now has taken over her mom Julie's horse, Buckshot as well.

If given the choice, Eternity would prefer to ride bareback at all times, but even in a saddle she is versatile and enjoys jumping just as much as she loves to run barrels and poles.
